Berkemyol® Potentilla

The antioxidant properties of Berkemyol® Potentilla was assessed ex vivo  by quantifying lipid peroxidation through measurement of malondialdehyde  (MDA) levels, a by-product of free radical degradation, in viable human skin explants. Results showed a reduction in MDA levels in the presence of Berkemyol® Potentilla, after 4 days, with triple the antioxidant efficacy of vitamin E, considered as an antioxidant reference in cosmetology.

The expression of collagen types I, III and IV was evaluated ex vivo on human skin explants using immunostaining after 6 days (Type III) and 8 days (Types I &IV). Berkemyol® Potentilla application was found to stimulates collagen syntheses, suggesting a beneficial effect on skin firmness.

Clinical studies

-Anti-glycation activity:
Berkemyol® Potentilla has been tested over 28 days on 23 female volunteers aged 40 to 55, who applied a cream containing 0.5% Berkemyol® Potentilla CN to their forearms twice daily, in comparison to a placebo cream. After 28 days of use,  demonstrated its ability to counteract premature aging by inducing a glycation delay equivalent to a gain of  2.7 years of glycation. Berkemyol® Potentilla.

-Anti-wrinkles activity:
Berkemyol® Potentilla was tested over a period of 28 days on a group of 22 female volunteers aged between 40 and 55. The volunteers applied a face cream containing 0.5% Berkemyol® Potentilla to one side of their face and a placebo cream to the other. After 28 days of application, Berkemyol® Potentilla has been shown to significantly reduce wrinkles appearance and make the skin smoother compared to a placebo.
