Vegetable oil packaging capacities
Groupe Berkem has a packaging capacity ranging from 1,800 to 2,200 bottles per hour, enabling it to meet the needs of both small and large production batches:
- Small batches are produced starting at 13,000 bottles in the 25 CL format, 9,000 bottles in the 50 CL format and 7,000 bottles in the 75 CL format.
- Large batches are produced starting at 40,000 bottles in the 25 CL format, 27,000 bottles in the 50 CL format and 21,000 bottles in the 75 CL format.
With more than 10 years of experience, Groupe Berkem has the capacity to handle large production volumes. The 610,000 bottles processed in 2023 are a case in point.
Tailor-made vegetable oil bottling process
1. Oil sourcing and quality control
Sourcing is an essential step in ensuring the quality and traceability of oils. Groupe Berkem assists its customers in sourcing vegetable oils, taking into account their specific needs and requirements. Note that bottling can also be performed using pre-supplied vegetable oils. Each batch received is subject to strict controls, including sampling and conformity analysis. Oil filtration is also part of the service for optimum purity.
2. Bottle depalletizing and preparation
Empty bottles are processed by semi-automatic depalletizing, followed by rotation and blow-cleaning, crucial for eliminating any risk of contamination from foreign bodies. This safety step guarantees that each bottle is optimally prepared before filling and meets the food industry’s safety and hygiene standards.
3. Filling and capping
The bottles are then filled to the desired capacity (25 CL, 50 CL, 75 CL or 1 L). Depending on capping preferences and requirements, plastic or aluminum caps can be used. Groupe Berkem also offers the option of a heat-shrinkable over-cap which reinforces the seal and provides additional protection against external damage.
4. Labeling and traceability
Packaging can be traced thanks to the Code128 barcode on each box, which makes it possible to follow each stage of logistics up to the final delivery. Traceability is also guaranteed on bottles, thanks to printed batch numbers and DMD (date of minimum durability). Each bottle can receive up to three labels to adapt to the regulations and specific branding of the product.
The industrial equipment dedicated to tailor-made vegetable oil bottling also features an automated packaging line and a continuous cooling system. These systems are essential for temperature-sensitive oils as they ensure their stability and maintain their properties even at high production volumes.
