Sourcing

Organic bilberry leaves are sourced from certified organic farms and wild harvest areas in Europe with  fertile soils and a temperate climate that supports the natural growth of Vaccinium myrtillus (European blueberry). Local growers and collectors follow sustainable and organic agricultural practices, emphasizing biodiversity, soil health, and minimal environmental impact.

Harvesting is done by hand, ensuring careful selection and preservation of the leaves’ botanical quality. The sourcing process benefits from deep-rooted local expertise and longstanding traditions of wild plant collection, combined with modern organic certification that guarantees purity and traceability. This approach ensures a high-quality, authentic natural ingredient, ideal for use in cosmetic formulations requiring organic and responsibly sourced botanicals.

Science

Proprietary preclinical studies

-Improvement of microcirculation (in vitro):
An in vitro study was conducted on Human microvascular endothelial cells  treated with Myrti’lla® in order to evaluate the pseudo-tube formation using an angiogenesis test. After 3 hours of incubation, cell differentiation leading to the formation of pseudo-tubes was evaluated using an inverted microscope. Image acquisition revealed that Myrti’lla® improves microcirculation by stimulating the formation of new blood vessels.

Clinical study

-Evaluation of the anti-redness effect:
A trial evaluating the anti-redness effect of Myrti’lla® was carried out on 17 women with reactive skin and facial rosacea. The women applied a cream containing 0.5% Myrti’lla® to one side of their face and a placebo to the other side, twice daily for 28 days. Following a clinical assessment of the skin and measurement of haemoglobin levels in the epidermis and dermis using a non-invasive method, the results showed that Myrti’lla® produced an immediate anti-redness effect 30 minutes after application and long term effect after 28 days.
