Description

Berkemyol® Green Tea is an active ingredient developed from green tea polyphenols, stabilized using patented esterification technology, ensuring remarkable stability and optimized efficacy. Designed to provide powerful antioxidant protection, it acts as a true shield against environmental stressors. By combining nature and innovation, Berkemyol® Green Tea supports skin re-oxygenation and helps defend against hypoxic stress caused by pollution. It also helps maintain skin firmness and elasticity while preventing premature aging induced by environmental aggressors such as pollution and sun exposure. This makes it an ideal choice for advanced anti-pollution and anti-aging skincare formulations.

Science

Proprietary preclinical studies

The antioxidant properties of Berkemyol®Green Tea was assessed ex vivo  by quantifying lipid peroxidation through measurement of malondialdehyde (MDA) levels, a by-product of free radical degradation, in viable human skin explants. Results showed a reduction in MDA levels in the presence of Berkemyol® Green tea, after 4 days with fourfold the antioxidant efficacy of vitamin E, considered as an antioxidant reference in cosmetology.

The anti-pollution effect of Berkemyol ® Green Tea  was assessed ex vivo  by quantifying  HIF-1-α factor rate, a molecular marker to evaluate cellular resistance to induced hypoxic stress, in human explants exposed to pollution (Pollubox®). Results showed that Berkemyol ® Green Tea significantly decreases HIF-1-α factor rate, demonstrating its ability to  protect the skin from induced hypoxic stress and to help to re-oxygenate the skin.

The expression of collagen type IV and fibrillin-1, a key component of elastic fibres, was evaluated ex vivo on human skin explants using immunostaining after six days. Application of Berkemyol® Green Tea was found to stimulate collagen type IV and fibrilin-1 expression, demonstrating beneficial effects on skin firmness and elasticity.

Proprietary in vivo study

Berkemyol® Green Tea was evaluated at a 0.5% concentration in a placebo-controlled study, applied twice daily as a cream to one side of the face, with a placebo cream applied to the other side. The trial involved 18 female smokers with dull complexions and facial skin slackening, living in a polluted urban environment. After 28 days, Berkemyol® Green Tea produced a significant increase in skin oxygenation, confirming its capacity to re-oxygenate the skin and help prevent premature aging caused by urban pollution.
