Sourcing

Quince leaves are sourced from conventional orchards in Portugal, a country with a favorable Mediterranean climate characterized by mild, wet winters and warm, dry summers. The quince trees thrive in well-drained, fertile soils where the climate and soil conditions support healthy growth and high-quality foliage.
The orchards are managed using traditional agricultural practices, focusing on optimal tree health and fruit quality. Harvesting is done carefully to preserve the botanical integrity of the leaves, which are valued for their aromatic properties and distinctive composition. This sourcing approach leverages Portugal’s long history of quince cultivation, ensuring a reliable supply of authentic natural ingredients suitable for cosmetic formulations.

Science

Proprietary preclinical studies

-Evaluation of pro-inflammatory marker production (in vitro):
An in vitro study was conducted on human keratinocytes treated with or without Ko’Zen® to assess its effect on inflammation induced by an impaired epidermal barrier. Cells were stimulated with LPS, triggering the release of pro-inflammatory mediators TNF-α and IL-8.  Results showed that Ko’Zen® triggers a significant and dose-dependent reduction in the production and release of TNF-α and IL-8.

Clinical studies

-Evaluation of soothing effect:
A study was conducted on 15 volunteers with sensitive skin to evaluate the soothing effect of Ko’Zen®. Volunteers applied a cream with 0.5% Ko’Zen® once daily on the face for 5 days. Results from a stinging test and self-assessment questionnaire showed that Ko’Zen® soothes the skin immediately and has a cumulative and long-lasting effect, reducing the sensation of discomfort. and providing a feeling of well-being.

-Evaluation of anti-redness effect:
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted on 31 women with sensitive skin to evaluate the anti-redness effect of Ko’Zen® after shaving-induced reactivity on the legs. Erythema index measurements and self-assessment questionnaires showed that after 28 days, Ko’Zen® significantly reduced redness, improved skin comfort, and provided soothing relief.
